Advent candles

Advent: Waiting prayerfully and in joyful hope. Advent reminds us of the three comings of the Lord — His coming in history over 2000 years ago; His coming in glory at the end of time when God’s dream for human kind will be realised; His transforming presence, and comings amid the happenings of our daily life.


Alpha Hospitality Ministry - Call for Volunteers - after a successful Alpha in 2018, planning for Alpha 2019, commencing 1st February 2019 is underway. One of the most crucial parts of Alpha is providing a meal for guests. Over 10 nights, the meal provides a space for friendships & true community to form. If you are interested in helping in this important ministry, please leave your name on the sheet in the back of the foyer. Contact Fr Duane for more information.


National Apology on Sexual Abuse: Bishop Brian Mascord has expressed his support for the National Apology on Monday with a pastoral message. The message is available at www.dow.org.au He writes “It is true that words can be hopelessly inadequate if not accompanied by effective action.” There are hard copies available at the foyers; on the back of the sheets is a summary of recent actions taken in Wollongong Diocese towards creating a safer Church.

Prayer Basket, Nowra Church: The Alpha Team and Nowra Community Group have arranged a Prayer Basket in the side foyer. There are prayer cards where you can write a prayer intention and place it in the basket. An Alpha Team member will take the prayer intentions to the altar during the entrance procession.

Parish Christmas Party! - Join us for a twilight picnic after 6pm Mass on Sunday 16th December. The picnic will be held on the grassed area inside the school’s grounds (“God’s grass”). If possible, bring along a plate of food to share, sweet or savory, food can be delivered to the Parish Centre before church. There will be chairs and mats provided, and games and activities for youth. Contact Parish Office if you want more info. ALL WELCOME!

Angels and Shepherds wanted! – All primary school age children interested in participating in the 7:00pm Christmas Eve Vigil Mass Nativity scene, please come to practice on Saturday 22nd December at 11am, in the school hall. If you cannot make the practice, you are still welcome to attend the Vigil Mass at 7:00pm. For more info contact Sophie Pavlis: 0439018374.


Monique Hill is heading to World Youth Day Panama early 2019. Monique has generously shared her singing talent to uplift our Sunday Masses at Nowra for many years. We can show her our gratitude and support by contributing to the cost of her trip, donation baskets at Nowra Church foyers next weekend.


Thank you - The Emmaus Team would like to thank all who helped with Mass with a Difference last Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many people willing to assist in this joyful celebration.

The LMC Soup Kitchen is holding its Christmas Party on Friday 21st December and is after donations of small gifts. Australian Province of The Society of JesusJob Vacancy Thursday 27th December to up to Thursday 24th January. We are looking for a casual cook to prepare meals for a group of between 8 to 16 visitors who will be staying at the Gerroa Villa House. Craft-Tea Characters Celebrate – Wednesday 12th December - Morning Tea followed by lunch from 9:30am-3:00pm in the Parish Centre. Kindly bring something sweet or savoury to share. For a bit of fun, we invite all attending to contribute a small gift for our lucky dip - nothing expensive, perhaps something you have made, maybe a regift; it’s just for fun. SVDP Christmas Appeal will be held on the weekend of 8th/9th December at St Michael's, Nowra and Sacred Heart, Bomaderry.


People with Coeliac are advised there is a suitable Communion Host available for them in our churches. The host is placed in a pyx on the altar for consecration and is kept separate from regular hosts in the ciborium at the time of distribution. Fr Pat and Fr Duane have been consecrating these hosts for Coeliacs for the last few years. All you need to do is tell Father before Mass and he will see that your host is available for you to receive. If you would like more information, please contact Patricia Bourke 0433 509 636.


Are you noticing the needs of your fellow parishioners & neighbours in times of sickness or other household emergencies? Remember the Parish Samaritan Group has volunteers happy to provide a meal. Pray As You Go and Sacred Space are free Apps, available to download from iTunes and Google Play. You can listen in the car, out walking or any time of day. It offers a reflection on the daily Scripture reading and a reflective review (examen) of your day before you go to sleep.


St Michael’s Playgroup - Runs each Monday during the school term from 9:00am–10:30am in foyer of St Michael's School Hall. Parents, grandparents, carers, all welcome! Please bring your child’s snacks and drink. Gold coin donation.

Children’s Liturgy Sundays 9:30am St Michaels - children aged 4 and up gather together with our volunteer teachers to receive God's Word on their own level, in a fun and interactive way.
